Canvas was the YouTube channel for the Arts Council. We were commissioned to work with all existing AC funded artists and organisations to create content aimed at a new youth audience who didn't actively seek the arts.
The channel was underperforming, unengaged and lacked purpose. When I came in, we had to shift the content strategy, production and execution drastically. We moved from a channel talking about the arts to one that collaborated with artists to make impactful work. This gave us the respect of the artist community.
When we stopped the talking heads doing art speak and let the artists be artists, unifying themes like identity, politics, global warming, and love within the art made the channel relevant to the audience.
By the end of the commission, Canvas was a known and respected name in the art community and to millions of people globally its where they discovered art and artists they identified with.
